Rich silver ore was discovered in Madera canyon in the Santa Ana mountains in 1877by two hunters. 250 miners later, the town of Silverado was born. Coal was mined in Black Star canyon and cinnabar (mercury ore) on Red Hill in Tustin.
The Santa Ana mountains offer many possibilites for the bottle collector willing to explore this history rich area. Please respect private property.
